Leaving a Gift in your Will

Think about it…

Everyone knows that the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy is a place filled with grace. Everyday many pilgrims come to immerse themselves into the presence of God and to experience Our Lady’s maternal care. They come to our Shrine to implore God through her intercession on behalf of their loved ones or to pray for themselves. However, our Shrine is not only a place of prayer but also of cultural diversity which fosters unity and peace.

If you wish that the mission of this Shrine should continue, why not consider to leave a gift in you Will. By leaving that gift to the Shrine in you Will you will leave a legacy of faith – a legacy to help ensure that the mission and pastoral outreach of this holy place, that has been important to you, continue, both for today’s needs and for those of your children, grandchildren and beyond.

Appropriate Wording

It is important the correct clauses and terminology are used in your Will. Suggested wording is shown below:

“I give to the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, operating under the legal name “Trustees of the Pauline Fathers and Brothers” in the State of New South Wales for its general purposes, the sum of $.........OR ……… percent of my estate OR the property at …… (OR other specific items), free of all duties, taxes and other deductions of whatever kind. I declare that the receipt of the Rector of the Shrine, or other designated officer, of the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, Penrose Park shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees."

At Penrose Park in the Southern Highlands of NSW, there is a shrine dedicated to our Lady of Mercy, represented by a replica of the Icon of Our Lady of Jasna Góra, known as the Black Madonna.  The Shrine is run by the Order of St. Paul the First Hermit known as the Pauline Fathers.  The Pauline Fathers have been custodians of the original Icon of the Black Madonna since 1382.
