CATHOLIC MISSIONS ANNUAL APPEAL
Catholic Mission works on behalf of Pope Leo and supports the work of the Church throughout the world The theme for 2025 is “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples”. Catholic Mission in Australia will be directing this years fundraising to the Church’s important work in Zambia.
Information about this important work and envelopes to make donations are available on the side table of the Shrine Church. Please feel free to have a read and to make a donation. Donations will be collected until the 31st October, after that they will be sent to Catholic Mission, alternatively you can donate directly by following the instructions given on the envelope. THE PROMISE – DIOCESE OF WOLLONGONG ADVENT & CHRISTMAS REFLECTIONS
Each Advent the Diocese of Wollongong produce a lovely booklet to help people prepare for and to celebrate the season of Christmas. This year the theme is “The Promise”. The booklets are for sale ad the side table in the Shrine Church. They are $10 each and they have daily reflections for Advent and the Christmas season. The reflections are written by various Priests and Religious both from the Diocese of Wollongong and nation wide including a reflection from the Shrine’s Prior, Fr Richard. Please support the work of the Diocese and purchase a copy as this is put out to help us all prepare spiritually for the birth of the Saviour.

PILGRIMAGE OF THE MIGRANT JUBILEE CROSS
The Diocese of Wollongong are excited to be hosting a section of the Pilgrimage of the Migrant Jubilee Cross 2025-2026, between 15 and 23 November this year. The Jubilee Cross has been crafted as a tangible symbol of the Church as a place of refuge and solidarity. It acknowledges and celebrates the deep faith and contributions that migrant Communities bring to the Australian Church. It houses sacred relics of the Holy Family and St Mary
MacKillop. In our diocese, the Cross will begin its journey as part of the existing Diocesan Pilgrimage to Milton-Ulladulla on Sat 15 November. It will travel through various parish communities before reaching the Cathedral on Fri 21 November, where it will stay until the Sunday.
The Cross will be hosted at Penrose Park on Monday 17th November 2025 commencing with the 11am Mass. There will be other activities planned, information will be given in the coming weeks. Please save this date in your calendars and come along to celebrate this great event in the life of the Shrine and the Diocese.

Saturday, the 6th of December, we will have our First Saturday Devotions in Honour of Our Lady, as she requested during the apparitions at Fatima. In addition for the Advent Season, we will have an extended program to turn the day into a full-day Advent retreat. The retreat is Free to attend with No Booking. BYO lunch, but tea and coffee are provided in the Marquee. The program will be as follows:

October Working Bee – Saturday 18th
Please consider coming along to our working bee on Saturday the 18th of October and helping in keeping the Shrine beautiful and spiritually uplifting for our local area and the pilgrims that visit. This Shrine is a treasure to the Order, Diocese and country, any help and forms of talent are always most welcome.
During the working bee this month, we are going to focus on a variety of maintenance tasks. What is attempted depends on who attends and their interests. The list includes:
- Fixing paved path.
- Cleaning gutters.
- Cleaning the chapels.
- Painting.
- General cleanup.
It would greatly assist in planning if anyone interested in coming would let Fr Joseph Maria know what projects they might be interested in working on. It is not expected that we will be able to start or finish the whole list.
If you have tools that can help with the particular task you are interested in, you are encouraged to bring them along.
The program for the day would be:
- Mass at around 8:15am in the Shrine Church
- Begin work at 9am at the back of the property
- Lunch around 1:30pm
- Finish around 3:30pm (for those that can stay the whole day).
The Fathers and Brothers pray for the intentions of volunteers to the Shrine everyday.

Fatima Day – October 2025
As always on the 13th of the Month, we will honour the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Shrine with our Fatima Day. October 13th will be one of the largest celebrations at the Shrine this year, as it was in October that the Children of Fatima received their last apparition in 1917.
The Main Celebrant for October will be the Most Reverend Columba MacBeth-Green OSPPE DD, Bishop of Wilcannia-Forbes.
The program is as follows:
- 10 am Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament & Confessions
- 10:30 am Rosary
- 11 am Solemn Mass

ANNUAL RETREAT
This past week 29th September to 3rd October 2025, the Fathers and Brothers of the Province gathered at our sister Shrine of Marian Valley (Canungra, Qld) for the Provincial annual retreat. Please continue to keep all the Fathers and Brothers in your prayers and to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life.

MAJOR WORK ON THE SHRINE CHURCH
Father Richard has engaged “Powered by Watts”, a local electrical company to replace the ceiling lights in the Shrine Church, which have not worked for some years, replace the lights behind the main Crucifix, add some powerpoint and bring up to current spec the wiring. There will also be outdoor lighting, making access to the Church easier as well as the decommissioning of the old toilet block. The work has begun but will take some time to complete. The total cost of the works is around $15,000.00

Our Lady made several promises connected to the keeping of the First Saturday Devotions for 5 consecutive months, which are the salvation of your own soul, the salvation of sinners and peace in the world.
Reception of the Religious Habit by Fr Isidore
On October 7th, the Feast of the Holy Rosary, Fr. Isidore Enyinnaya will take the next major step in the process of becoming a full member of the Pauline Fathers and receive the Religious Habit of the Order of St. Paul the First Hermit.
