ANNUAL RETREAT
Each year the Australian Province gathers together for the annual retreat. This year it will be in our Sister Shrine of Marian Valley, Canungra QLD. It will be held from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th October 2023. During this week, Fr Brian Harrison will be the Priest in residence and will celebrate Mass at 11am and be available for confessions and the Church will be open as usual for private prayer.

FATIMA DAY – Friday 13th October
The main celebrant will be the Most Reverend Columba MacBeth-Green OSPPE DD, Bishop of Wilcannia-Forbes. Weather permitting Mass will be celebrated outside. Please bring along a chair as there is only a limited number provided by the Shrine as well as a hat to protect you from the sun and water to stay hydrated.

MASS WITH THE BLESSING OF PETS/ANIMALS
In honour of St Francis of Assisi, there will be an outdoor Mass with the blessing of Pets / Animals on Sunday 15th October at 11am. Mass will be celebrated outside. For anyone wanting to help on that day please speak to Fr Richard. Please remember to keep your animals restrained, bring along bags to keep the areas tidy as well as a hat and water for both pilgrim and pet.

40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE SHRINE
Next year, We will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the blessing and opening of the Shrine. From Fatima Day (13th October) the calendar of events will be available outlining the various celebrations to mark this great milestone.

MORNING TEA AFTER 8AM MASS
After the success of the last morning tea, general consensus is that the pilgrims and locals would like to see a continuation of especially during the warmer months, therefore we will try it on a monthly basis. For anyone wishing to help wit food or make a donation please speak to Fr Richard. The next morning tea will be Sunday 22nd October 2023.

Last weeks morning tea after the 8am Mass was a great success. Thank you to everyone who prepared or donated something delicious to share, it was greatly appreciated. FATIMA DAY – Wednesday 13th September
This was a great success and we thank Fr Dominic Popplewell, Parish Priest of Wentworth, NSW, Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes for accepting our invitation to be the main celebrant.

WORKING BEE
Thank you to all you turned up and helped out on Saturday 16th with the monthly working bee. Next working bee is on the front page of the bulletin.

Announcements for the Solemnity of our Lady of Mercy

Here are the Announcements from the bulletin for the Solemnity of our Lady of Mercy.

SOLEMNITY OF OUR LADY OF MERCY
The Proper Solemnity of Our Lady of Mercy, the Black Madonna is the 26th August. Due the our Shrine being a Diocescan Shrine, Bishop Peter Ingham, Emeritus Bishop of Wollongong granted the special indult allowing the celebrations of Our Lady to be celebrated on the Sunday closest to the actual Solemnities date. This has also since been endorsed and confirm by Bishop Brian Mascord, current Bishop of Wollongong.

Fr Richard and the community of Penrose Park would like to wish all Pilgrims a very Happy and Blessed Solemnity of Our Lady of Mercy. May the Black Madonna continue to intercede to her Son and may His Blessings be showered upon you all.

Here are the Announcements from the Bulletin for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time:

11am MASS EACH WEDNESDAY
Commencing on Wednesday 9th August, the Shrine Mass each Wednesday will be celebrated at the Old Monastery. As this is a beautifully restored chapel, on the site of the original Monastery, it is felt that there should be more regular usage as well as the Church cleaning is organised for Wednesdays. The main Shrine Church will still be open for visitation.

WORKING BEE
Thank you to all who cam and assisted with the monthly Shrine working bee. Next working bee: Saturday 16th September. For anyone seeking further information or would like to volunteer please speak to Fr Joseph Maria.

NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF MERCY
We have commenced the Novena to our Lady of Mercy whose Solemnity will be celebrated next Saturday 26th August. During the 11am Mass this coming week the Novena will be prayed for the intentions of all those who have made request or sent in their petitions.

SOLEMNITY OF OUR LADY OF MERCY
The Solemnity of our Lady of Mercy will be celebrated next Saturday 26th August. As a Diocesan Shrine dedicated to Our Lady we also have the privilege of celebrating this great occasion on Sunday, so all the Masses next Sunday will be the extension of the celebration of Our Lady of Mercy, Our Lady of Jasna Gora. During each of the Masses the final prayers of the Novena will be recited after the Creed.

GOLF BUGGYS
Fr Richard has purchased two golf buggy’s for the benefit of pilgrims coming to the Shrine, especially for Fatima Day or any major solemnity. He is looking for people interested in driving them. For anyone interested please speak to Fr Richard or one of the community.

WEDNESDAY SHRINE MASS
Every Wednesday the Shrine Mass at 11am will be celebrated at the Old Monastery. The Shrine Church will be open for those wishing to visit.

CHURCH CLEANING
Next Church cleaning: Wednesday 6th September.

WORKING BEE
Next working bee: Saturday 19th August. For anyone seeking further information or would like to volunteer please speak to Fr Joseph Maria.

READERS AT MASS
We are looking for people interested in reading at the Sunday Masses. It is always good to have a few people and if this is achieved a roster can be created for each of the Masses. Please speak to one of the community or please email the office and specify which particular Sunday Mass you would like to read at and the regularity you can offer.

OLD MONASTERY
There are 4 rooms available for individuals or couples wishing to come and spend some time at Penrose Park ($30 without linen & $40 with linen). Please ring or go online to make a booking.

Congratulations to Brian and Susanne Carter on the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary (4th August). Wishing them every blessing through the intercession of Our Lady of Mercy.

RENEWAL OF RELIGIOUS PROFESSION

RENEWAL OF RELIGIOUS PROFESSION
Br Augustine will be renewing his Religious vows on Sunday 6th August at the 11am Mass. All are invited to come along, participate and support Br Augustine as he takes another important step in his religious life. Please keep him and others in formation in your prayers. Please continue to pray for vocations to our Religious family.

CHURCH CLEANING
The Shrine Church has many visitors each day and especially during the weekends, holidays and Solemnities. It is not always easy to stay on top of keeping the church clean but it is a necessity as it is a place of pilgrimage and the house of God. Therefore Fr Richard has organised that the Shrine Church will be deep cleaned once a month. There will be notice given and the 11am Mass for that particular day will be celebrated in the Chapel at the Old Monastery. Next Church cleaning: Wednesday 9th August.
